Templates

TLDR: The template library contains every runnable starter model, including case-study templates. Quick starts teach common patterns; case-study templates add source data, validation notes, and a longer writeup.

Using Templates

  1. Go to Templates from the dashboard or public header
  2. Browse templates by domain, difficulty, or search
  3. Click a template card to see details
  4. Click Use Template or Open Runnable Template to create your copy
  5. Customize the copy for your specific scenario
Templates Are Copies

When you use a template, you get your own independent copy. Changes you make don't affect the original template.

Template Structure

Each template includes:

Simulation 101 Templates

New to simulation? Start with these fundamentals templates:

TemplateKey Lesson
Why Averages LieVariability causes queues even when capacity = demand
The Utilization TrapRunning at 100% causes exponential wait times
One vs Three LinesSingle queue with multiple servers is more efficient
Hockey Stick EffectWait times spike as utilization approaches 100%
Batch Size Trade-offLarger batches = more waiting for first items

Finding Templates

New to simulation? Start with "Simulation 101" templates. They teach fundamental concepts that apply to any industry.

Customizing Templates

After creating from a template:

  1. Rename: Give it a name specific to your project
  2. Adjust parameters: Update arrival rates, service times for your data
  3. Add/remove nodes: Modify the process to match your reality
  4. Add documentation: Use Text nodes to explain your changes

Case Study Templates

Some templates are intentionally closer to consulting-style working templates than to quick-start examples. These case-study templates use stronger documentation, clearer assumptions, validation summaries, and optional long-form writeups so you can see how a realistic simulation is framed.
